I’ve received a few messages from people asking about crystals.  I love this little tutorial on crystals from the folks over at The Spirit Science.

When I studied with a wiccan priest years ago, he had me get the book Crystal, Gem & Metal Magic by Scott Cunningham, which I like because it gives the history of the specific stones, a few “spells” (still reluctant to use that word; I prefer invocations, intentions or manifestations), some purification methods, and is a quick reference guide.  Another book I like is Healing with Crystals and Chakra Energies by Sue Lilly and Simon Lilly, which was actually given to me.  I haven’t read the whole thing, but I glance through it often and like the information and how the book makes the connections between crystals, colors, chakras, yoga, and meditation, plus it has a lot of pictures for visual people like me.  I’m sure there are plenty of other great books out there on crystals and gemstones; I just haven’t felt the need to look for more.  (Gosh, the list of books I want to read is endless.  Wish I could just sleep with them under my pillow and absorb.)

When I first started getting into crystals and stones I searched countless books and websites for their meaning/uses.  Most stones/crystals have multiple uses.  What I have found is that the sources all vary (except for the more common stones: clear quartz, rose quartz, amethyst, and a few other ones), which left me pretty confused.  What I realized is that it’s good to have that knowledge, but in the end choose the meaning/usage that resonates with you.  What are you drawn too?  What feels right?  Are you drawn to a certain color?  Hold it in your hand and ask, “is this right for me in this moment?”  Trust your inner voice.

You can program a stone with your intentions to get the results you are looking for.  Just make sure to cleanse the stone before you charge it.

There are many ways to cleanse and charge, but because the structure of crystals and stones vary greatly some ways of cleansing/charging can damage some stones.  I always sage to cleanse them and then hold them in my dominant hand to charge them with my intention.  It doesn’t have to get crazy complicated and fancy.  Another way to cleanse, which I don’t use because I don’t have access to a private back yard, is to sit your crystals out overnight when there is a full moon.  I’ve also taken sea salt and put it in a large glass container and buried my stones in there for 24 hrs.  I find saging the easiest to do, plus I just love saging in general.  You just hold the stone over the smoke for as long as you feel is right while holding the intention of clearing the stone.  If you are indoors make sure the windows are open so the sage, which carries the impurities away, can have a place to exit.  It helps to have a fan or I sometimes use a large notebook to fan the smoke out the window, and leave the window(s) open for a while.  While I’m at it, I’ll often go ahead and sage my room and/or my apartment and myself.  I always chant the Sanskrit mantra “Om gam ganapataye Namaha” as I sage, which aids in the removing of obstacles.  You can find sage at any health food store or online.  Although the sun isn’t good for many stones, I always give my clear quartz crystals some sun.

Why cleanse your stones/crystals?  Most of them are receptive to picking up any energies around, kind of like sponges.  It’s good to clear stones that you use a lot, have sitting out (which most of mine are), wear, or stones that come into contact with other people. Because I have a pretty solid basic knowledge of stones/crystals and have learned to trust my inner guidance, I rarely look up stones in books or on the Internet these days.

Here are the stones I use on a regular basis:

I always have a small tiger’s eye, jade, and aventurine in my wallet to attract money and prosperity.

When I’m feeling stressed out I hold a blue agate stone in my dominant hand and imagine the stress pouring into it.  I’ll also use a rose quartz sometimes in my left hand (our feminine side of the body) while doing this.  Rose quartz is a great calming stone.

I sleep with a pouch underneath my pillow which contains:

Howlite - to absorb and uplift stress, tension, anxiety, and ward off nightmares

Black Tourmaline – A great protection stone

Amethyst – Pleasant, peaceful sleep, insightful/prophetic dreams

Moonstone – restful sleep

Citrine – to ward off nightmares

Carnelian – To ward off nightmares as well

Rose Quartz – love and calmness

(Can you tell I’m afraid of the dark?!)

*These stone have other uses, this is just what I have programmed them to do

I often lie down and go to sleep with stones on top of my chakras.  I have been using the following:

1st Chakra (red)– Garnet

2nd Chakra (orange) – Carnelian or Tiger’s Eye

3rd Chakra (yellow) – Citrine

4th Chakra (green) – Rose Quartz, Green aventurine, or malachite

5th Chakra (sky blue) – turquoise, blue agate, or amazonite

6th Chakra (indigo – some belief systems consider this chakra violet) – Lapis Lazuli (I love this stone!  I noticed it was all throughout the Vatican when I visited….kinda makes you wonder. And all those pine cones that are obviously representative of the Pineal Gland? But that’s going off the topic at hand.)

7th chakra (white) – clear quartz (I place right above my head)

And I have clusters of amethyst, clear quartz, rose quartz, and various small tumbled stones throughout my room and apartment to keep the good vibes flowing.

Lately I have been drawn to fluorite.  A few weeks before the 8-8-12 Sirius Lions Gate alignment, I was suddenly drawn to a fluorite stone that I never use.  The colors of that stone and many fluorite stones are purple and sea green.  I loved the energy coming from the stone and found that is was helping to balance my aura.  The fluorite rarely left my side; come to find out, the colors associated with the 8-8-12 alignment were purple and sea foam green.  I was at school at the time studying anatomy and physiology and we did meditations to invoke the energies of the Sirius alignment that involved visualizing purple/violet and sea-green.   I had the stone sitting near me during the whole course because fluorite is a mental stone, so I was hoping it would help me with my studies.  Suddenly I realized the fluorite I had was the same colors of violet and sea-green!  Guess that was my way of connecting more to the energies coming into the earth at that time.  Although you don’t need it, it’s great to get validation for the guidance/intuition you receive.  I recently got a fluorite crystal ball and I love it!  It totally helps to charge and re-align my field.

I’m by no means a crystal/stone expert, but I’ve always felt drawn to them and would love to learn more.  I especially want to learn how to use them in my energy healings.  But one step at a time; I’ve put it out there and when I’m ready, the information and sources or even a class will come my way.

Hope this helped to answer your questions!  Much Love and Light to you all <3

Ah„„„, Surprise!

Stars cry out to the indigo sky

She is found in this oxymoron container

Divided in halves among halves

until unrecognizable to each other

As one in another

Bursting forth from idle shame

that compounded and stretched

upon this frozen plane

Oh, but to taste her

To dip my toe in her tingle

This longing and her call are so strong

that just a glimpse is like touching fire

and I’m no longer numb

Creeping down the basement steps

Towards the dark light

Meddling in distractions abides time

But I’ve heard her siren calls

My denial is stronger than Odysseus

yet my soul has broken free

and now let loose reigns upon me

So sing on your medley that lives in my heart

Reminds in the background I am free

Despite my attempts not to see

Spiraling inward with each strum

On strings made from scars

Each note calls forth pain pasts

Hungers my starvation of longings now

This tangled excitement in my chest

is roaring with your possibilities

of what could be’s if we finally met

Communed ourselves to one

If I remembered all of me

I would know the meaning of free

Father-Goddess Invocation for Remembrance and Freedom

(I was inspired to write this after a Goddess Meditation at BBSH)

***

I feel your love Great Goddess

As your brilliant light softly descends

in the void of my heart

A self-hidden place of forgottenness

Bound in pain

Then I remember

I am the light

You are the light

We make up the light

And love is our food

Oh keep me in this place of joy!

Let me never forget my divinity

The Divine in all

Bring communion to all my selves

All facets of Yin and Yang

Transmute me to my Core Star

That Multifaceted diamond I’ve hidden for centuries

Oh Goddess embrace me

Great Father give me strength

Set me free

Set me free

Set
